Topkapi

The Topkapi are the result of a trip to Istanbul. In the harem of the Topkapi Palace I became intrigued by the chaotic arrangement of flagstones and the marks chiseled in the stone. To the amazement of my family, rather than admiring the palace or the view of the Bosphorus I was photographing my feet! Back at our hotel I sketched what I had seen and once back in my studio got right to work on the new series.
